    Abstract:

The bone metabolism in animals persists for whole lifetime, including both bone formation and absorption.Calcium and phosphorus are important components in bone structure and dietary calcium, phosphorus and calcium:phosphorus ratio affect the bones metabolism directly.Vitamin D can also affect the bone metabolism directly, besides its effect on regulation the absorption and metabolism of calcium and phosphorus. This article reviews the recent progress in research on the influence of calcium, phosphorus and vitamin D on the bone metabolism in animals.
