    Abstract:

    Objective To compare three methods for inspection of ectoparasites on laboratory animals.Methods\ Samples were taken by animal sacrifice,pulling up the animal's hair and scraping the animal's skin.Results\ The infectious rate of mite in mice from four laboratory animal center was 75.5%,90.0%,73.3% and 85%,respectively,which was higher than those obtained by the methods of pulling up the animals' hair(19.8%,27.3%,10.0%,75.0%) or scraping the animals' skin(19.8%,60.6%,40.0%,65.0%).The infectious rate of louse in Guinea pigs and mite in New Zealand rabbits was all 100% revealed by sacrifice method.Conclusion\ Sacrifice method is better than pulling up hair and scraping skin methods,but combination of those two or three methods is the best way to monitor ectoparasites on laboratory animals.
