    Abstract:

Objective To evaluate the method of making a right ventricle hypertrophy model in rats and measure rats' right ventricular pressure by catheterization. Method Pulmonary artery banding was performed in male rats of approximately 250g. Right ventricle catheterization was carried out through right external jugular vein in order to monitor the right ventricular pressure and the relationship between this pressure and the degree of banding. Results Right ventricle hypertrophy appeared in all rats by six weeks of banding. The weight of right ventricle free wall was significantly increased(p<0.01). Marked pathological changes of ventricle hypertrophy were observed under light and electron microscope. Conclusion A right ventricle hypertrophy model was successfully created through our methods.
