Swine are widely used in physiological and experimental surgery studies. And they are increasingly used in pharmacological and toxicological researches with the development of minipigs. In toxicological researches, the minipigs are becoming a new selection of non rodents other than monkeys and dogs. This paper reviewed the minipigs in regulatory toxicity, dermal toxicity, reproductive toxicity, and in vitro toxicity researches, with the disadvantageous aspects of minipigs in toxicological researches.
