Non-human primates is closer to human than rodents in phylogenetics so that they could be more compatible to simulate clinical symptoms and the mechanism.In this article,we looked ahead at the prospect of non-human primates models,especially the advantage of the use of tree shrews in focal cerebral ischemia research area through reviewing the methods and application of focal cerebral ischemia models in non-human primates at home and abroad.
